Swan’s Journey III
The years had quietly passed since those unforgettable Valentine’s journeys across the frozen lake. The world around Ryan and Delia had continued to change, but the bond between them — and the silent, loyal presence of their beloved swan — remained untouched by time.
Now, the lake beside Ryan’s home had become more than a place of memories. It had become a place where old promises and new beginnings lived together.
It was early spring, a gentle season between the last breath of winter and the warmth of a new year. The snow still rested softly along the edges of the lake, but the water had opened again, reflecting the pale sky above. Small pieces of ice drifted quietly near the shore, moving with the slow rhythm of the current.
Ryan and Delia sat together in a small wooden boat on the lake.
The boat moved slowly, almost silently, as Ryan guided it with careful hands. He knew every movement of the water, every quiet corner near the reeds, every place where his old friend and her family liked to rest.
Delia sat at the front of the boat, smiling as she watched the little swan babies gather around them.
The mother swan glided nearby, the same swan who had once pushed Ryan’s sleigh across the frozen lake, carried his letters through the sky, and helped guide his heart toward Delia. Now, beside her, a new generation followed — little swan babies discovering the world beneath the care of the friend who had been part of their family for so many years.
One tiny swan baby had wandered close enough for Ryan to gently lift it from the water. He carefully placed it into Delia’s hands.
She held it with both arms, surprised by how light and warm it felt.
“Oh, Ryan,” she whispered, her voice filled with wonder. “Look at this little one.”
The baby swan rested comfortably against her, its soft feathers brushing against her fingers. Delia laughed quietly as it moved its tiny wings and touched her hand with its small beak.
“You’re curious, aren’t you?” she said softly.
The little swan answered with a gentle sound and tucked itself closer to her.
Ryan watched her with a quiet smile.
For years, he had remembered how the swan carried his hopes across frozen waters, how she helped bring him closer to Delia when distance seemed impossible. Now, seeing Delia hold the child of that same beloved friend, he felt something he had never felt before.
The journey was no longer about reaching someone.
They had already found each other.
Now it was about protecting the family and love that had grown from those memories.
Ryan slowly turned the boat toward the shore where the mother and father swans waited.
“Easy,” he whispered with a smile, guiding the boat carefully. “We’re bringing your little one back.”
The mother swan gave a familiar call, the same gentle sound Ryan had known since childhood.
Delia looked at him and smiled.
“You still talk to her the same way you did when you were young.”
Ryan glanced toward the swan.
“She has always understood me,” he replied. “Maybe not our words. But she has always understood our hearts.”
The boat continued forward at a peaceful pace.
The mother swan stretched her neck toward them, not with worry, but with the quiet trust built over a lifetime. The father swan remained nearby, calm and watchful, already knowing the hands that carried their little one were the same hands that had cared for his family for years.
As the boat reached the shallow water, Delia lowered the baby swan gently toward its parents.
The little swan hesitated for a moment, looking back at her before stepping into the water.
Delia laughed softly.
“I think it likes me.”
Ryan smiled.
“I think it remembers you.”
The baby swan paddled toward its family, and the mother swan touched her beak gently against the little one, welcoming it home. It was the same loving gesture she had shared with Ryan and Delia many years before.
The other babies gathered around, creating a small circle of feathers, movement, and happiness.
Delia rested her hand on the edge of the boat while Ryan continued to guide them slowly across the lake.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
They simply watched.
The swan mother guiding her babies.
The little ones learning the water.
The lake holding all of them together.
Ryan looked at Delia, and she looked back at him.
Their smiles carried the same feeling — the quiet understanding that love was not only found in grand moments or impossible journeys.
Sometimes love was a small boat moving slowly across a lake.
Sometimes it was a fragile life held carefully in your hands.
Sometimes it was two people choosing, again and again, to protect the beautiful things they had been given.
And as the boat drifted beneath the soft spring sky, Ryan and Delia remained beside the swan family — not as visitors to their world, but as part of it.
Because some friendships are not formed in a single moment.
Some are built over a lifetime.
And some become family.

Lovely Dream
Hello, I’m Joyce, and I’m thrilled to welcome you into my story! I believe something in my scene drew you here, and that’s what led you to my page. How lovely you are! I’m sure you’re curious to hear the story behind this scene. I can’t wait to share my dream with you and bring you into the magical Christmas atmosphere everyone eagerly awaits.
In 1920, in Indiana, just days before Christmas, I was so eager to meet Santa Claus that I couldn’t sleep for four nights. Then, one night, my mom noticed me crying. So, she came into my room and began telling me a beautiful Christmas story about Santa. As I listened with excitement, I eventually drifted into a deep sleep, where my mom’s story became my dream, vivid and real.
I wished I’d never wake up from that dream. When I did, though, I felt happy and couldn’t wait to tell my brothers, Liam, Marc, Frank, and my sister, Christine. I called them over, and we sat together while I told them about my dream.
On that sunny Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, our village buzzed with excitement, eagerly awaiting Santa’s arrival. A wintery scene decorated the square: garlands of lights twinkling overhead, while wreaths and holly adorned every doorway. The scent of pine, cinnamon, and freshly baked gingerbread filled the air. Suddenly, laughter and cheers erupted as Santa appeared, stepping onto the snowy village path with a presence that warmed even the chilliest afternoon.
Santa was magnificent, his beard cascaded down his chest like a waterfall of snow, glinting in the sunlight. His face, glowing with joy, was framed by a cranberry-red coat so vibrant it stood out against the frosty backdrop. Over his shoulder hung a jute bag overflowing with gifts, each handmade with such care and charm that the sight left the children wide-eyed in wonder. We gathered in awe, gazing at the treasures within.
Then, As Santa scanned the crowd, his eyes twinkling, he caught my gaze and strolled over with a warm smile. “What’s your name, my dear?” he asked, his voice deep and kind.
“Joyce,” I replied, feeling my cheeks blush with excitement.
“What a beautiful name, Joyce,” he said, his tone sincere and gentle. “And tell me, do you like the long beard of Santa Claus?” He gestured to his snowy beard, which looked softer and more magical than I’d ever imagined.
“Of course!” I exclaimed, grinning. His next words made my heart skip.
“Would you like to slide on it?” he asked, his voice full of the magic of Christmas.
“Wow, Santa, that’s magical!” I couldn’t believe it. So, all the kids and I shouted, accepting Santa’s offer.
Santa chuckled, then spread his hand beneath his beard, creating a smooth, snowy path. He patted it, inviting me to climb on. I called to my brothers and sister, “Liam, Marc, Frank, Christine, come on play!” Their eyes lit up as they joined, and soon we were gliding down Santa’s beard, feeling the softness under us and laughing with delight. Other kids joined in, and soon the air was filled with joyous laughter and snowballs as we playfully tossed them at one another. Santa watched with a hearty chuckle, his own laugh booming like jingle bells.
Then, his voice called out over the fun, “Hey, kids! Aren’t you tired of sliding? Don’t you want your special gifts?”
“Yes, we do!” we shouted in unison, scrambling up with bright eyes and pink cheeks. Each of us received a beautiful handmade gift, crafted uniquely for every child, along with candies wrapped in shimmering paper. When I bit into mine, the taste was unlike anything I’d ever known, like the essence of Christmas itself, sweet, rich, and magical, a flavour that felt as if it came straight from paradise. Even now, I can still taste that unforgettable sweetness that only Santa’s Christmas could bring.
“Wow, Joyce, that dream sounds incredible!” my brothers exclaimed, their eyes lighting up with excitement. “We can’t wait for Santa to arrive!” They thanked me eagerly for sharing, and as we kept talking, our mother listened from the kitchen, a warm smile spreading across her face.
